Queen heaven

My goal in adapting the show was to use the possibilities of the fulldome medium to enrich the content without changing the essence of the original. Only about four months were available for the project. At the time I was working on the project, my lease was expiring and I couldn't find an opportunity to look for a new apartment. So I was de facto homeless for a period of three months and literally slept under my desk in the Jena Planetarium. To maintain basic hygiene, I went to the Galaxy swimming pool in Jena Lobeda every two to three days. Ultimately, this was the only way to process such a complex undertaking as recreating the classic, slide-based queen show in such a short time.

The project also posed enormous challenges to the technology available at the time. I remember a cascade of adverse events from crashed computers, defective hard drives, unresolvable rendering errors, etc. that led to me having to finish setting up the event on the planetarium's projection computer when the premiere audience was already gathering, champagne glasses in hand in front of the Star Hall. The other and only memory I have of the premiere is falling at a bar table in the foyer during a temporary faint from exhaustion.
